GW HyGrid is exploring how hydrogen can support more flexible and reliable energy systems across the Great Western region.

As renewable energy increases, balancing supply and demand becomes more complex. This project assesses how hydrogen can provide long duration energy storage, capturing surplus renewable energy and releasing it when it is needed.

Using advanced modelling and real-world data, the project will generate clear evidence to support infrastructure planning, investment decisions and future energy strategy.
