NET BENEFIT AI:
Scaling Solutions, Opening Opportunities

Defining the responsible role for AI in the energy transition.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly pivotal to the global energy transition, offering new ways to optimise and decarbonise our systems. The ‘Net Benefit AI’ report, launched by the Climate Action Coalition in partnership with Google during the London Climate Action Week, explores how AI can accelerate this shift.

Ahead of the report's release, the taskforce gathered evidence through five virtual roundtables in May and June 2026, exploring the impact of AI on grids, industry, transport, and data centres.

A key case study featured is HyChain, an AI-enhanced platform developed by Dr Shuya Zhong and Professor Mi Tian at the University of Bath through the GW-SHIFT programme. By translating complex hydrogen supply chain models into actionable insights, the platform enables SMEs and regional authorities to evaluate production, storage, and emissions scenarios, lowering barriers to informed decision-making.

This report is a vital resource for understanding the responsible integration of digital innovation, offering essential strategies for anyone working to achieve net-zero goals.
