Enabling flexible hydrogen energy systems for remote and off-grid environments

Swansea University

Academics: Dr. James M. Courtney, Dr. Stephen Mandale

External Partner: Hyppo Hydrogen Solutions

This project is developing a hydrogen energy system designed for use in remote and demanding environments.

Bringing together solar power, hydrogen production, storage and fuel cells, the system will provide a flexible, integrated energy solution where it is needed.

A working prototype will demonstrate how the system operates in practice, alongside analysis of system design and commercial potential. The project also explores how it can be deployed across sectors requiring off grid energy.

By supporting real-world applications, the project helps expand how hydrogen can be used across South Wales and the South West.
