This project is enhancing HyChain (hychain.co.uk), a hydrogen supply chain decision-making platform, to empower businesses to autonomously navigate hydrogen opportunities tailored to their specific needs.

Building on the existing HyChain platform, which enables users to model hydrogen supply chains and assess technology options, the project is currently being developed in technical dialogue with digiLab. The primary focus is the implementation of a Generative AI-powered guidance layer to provide an interactive, conversational experience throughout the entire user journey.

The upgraded HyChain will offer step-by-step support, from assisting with complex data inputs and explaining technical parameters in real-time to effectively translating sophisticated analytical outputs into practical, executive-ready insights. Scheduled for full release in September 2026, the AI-enhanced platform will enable non-specialist users to interpret results and evaluate strategic options with confidence.

By democratising access to professional hydrogen decision-making through Generative AI, the project directly supports the wider adoption of hydrogen across SMEs in South Wales and the South West. This intelligent guidance is a critical step in accelerating regional adoption and building a more capable, inclusive, and future-ready hydrogen economy.
