GW-SHIFT Showcased at UK and World Energy Storage Conference 2025
The GW-SHIFT programme was prominently featured at the UK and World Energy Storage Conference 2025, held at the University of Sheffield from 14–17 April. Representing GW-SHIFT, Co-director Professor Xiaohong Li of the University of Exeter led a team delivering four oral presentations and one poster, all of which acknowledged the programme’s support and focus on accelerating innovation in sustainable hydrogen and battery technologies.
The event provided a high-profile platform to demonstrate GW-SHIFT’s role in building a regional research and innovation cluster across South West England and South Wales. It also allowed the team to engage in key discussions around the future of smart energy systems, long-duration energy storage, and the role of hydrogen in achieving net zero.
Conference highlights included plenary talks from international leaders such as Henrik Lund, Magdalena Titirici, and Daniyal Basharat, with strong emphasis on the commercialisation of clean technologies—an ambition closely aligned with GW-SHIFT’s mission.
GW-SHIFT acknowledges generous support from EPSRC, the GW4 Alliance Generator Fund, University of Exeter Doctoral College, and several collaborative projects and partnerships.
