Wera Hobhouse MP Commends GW-SHIFT Innovation During Visit to University of Bath’s Hydrogen Hub

The GW-SHIFT team was delighted to welcome local MP Wera Hobhouse to the University of Bath, where she toured the Hydrogen Hub and praised the pioneering work being delivered across the South West to accelerate clean hydrogen innovation.

During her visit, Ms Hobhouse engaged with researchers from GW-SHIFT, a major UKRI-funded programme focused on growing the hydrogen economy in South West England and South Wales. Led by the University of Bath and delivered in collaboration with civic, academic and industrial partners, helping to unlock the region’s potential for green growth through sprint-funded projects targeting sustainable transport, industry, and fuel production.

She toured key facilities, including the Hydrogen Production and Use Labs, and was briefed on GW-SHIFT's collaborations with regional stakeholders such as Hydrogen South West and Net Zero Wales.

The visit offered a strong endorsement of GW-SHIFT’s mission to deliver hydrogen solutions rooted in place-based impact and cross-sector innovation.
