Free-surface control of sloshing in cryogenic fueltanks
University of Plymouth
Academics: Dr Yeaw Chu Lee, Associate Professor, Mr Stuart Colville, Research Assistant
External Partner: Airbus
The aim of this project, in collaboration with Airbus, is to further develop capabilities in the South West for advancing end-use of hydrogen transport and storage, and engaging with international key players in liquid hydrogen tank manufacturers. The project envisages impact from the ndings to bene t, deliver growth and engagement with the wider hydrogen communities and industries in aerospace, aviation, maritime and offshore renewable energy producers in the South West. The anticipated research impact and outcomes will address physical sloshing modelling challenges of cryogenic liquids such as hydrogen via targeted innovative experiments to prevent and control oscillation in fuel tanks for next generation hybrid civil aircrafts.
